Blog Post 15

Livebinders is an absolutely fantastic resource for teachers. I had very recently, about a month ago, heard of Livebinders at a staff development. It was mentioned as a good tool to use but it was difficult to follow the speaker’s directions and I did not understand what the benefit of Livebinders was. Creating my account for this class gave me the opportunity to actually experience all the benefits of using a tool like Livebinders. I thought it was going to be more difficult than it was; I was surprised at how simple it was to use. It was extremely easy to organize the content, create tabs, and upload images.
I would like to use Livebinders to organize all my lesson plans as well as activities that I will do in my science lab. I think using this tool will be excellent for me because I currently have an actual binder that I carry all over the place. It is time to go digital! I teach kinder through fifth grade so using Livebinders will give me the opportunity to create a tab for each grade level. I will upload the lesson plans for the grade along with the weekly activity. I could also make a tab for needed materials which will really help me when I am set up and preparing the labs.
Another way I could use Livebinders is to keep track of STAAR review questions. I could create a tab in which I can upload questions and have a question bank. It would be a way of staying organized and keeping track of questions students may have had problems with.  Whenever I need to do a review in class the questions will be readily available.
I will also want to use Livebinders for my student s to organize their work. I would like them to create a binder for every unit. Within the binder they can create tabs and add images and videos. I think this would be great for the students because they can have a tab for their vocabulary and work summaries they do in class. They can have another tab for labs they do and video clips on the topic. Creating binders for every unit will be extremely helpful at the end of the year when they have to review. The students can go back and revisit the binders and review the information, watch the videos and study the vocabulary.

  1. Claudia,
I like your idea of having students create a LiveBinder to organize their work for every unit. It would be helpful for them to have these binders with information that they will need to review. I also think that having your lessons for the different grade levels would be useful. It is a way of staying organized without having a lot of papers.

  2. I like the real application of tools that we have been participating in this course too! I think this site is good for students to store information and sites that they have found valuable in their learning. Since students do so much of their work online, this site is great for them to remember what they have used and to stay organized.

    Great post!

  3. Claudia,
I am so glad that you had already heard of LiveBinders at a staff development. Unfortunately, a lot of times we are provided so much information at staff development that sometimes we miss great learning opportunities like this one. I had not considered using LiveBinders for lesson plans until I read your post.

  4. Claudia,
What a great idea for using a binder to put your lesson plans in! I thought about just resourceful information but having a lesson plan tab and adding sub tabs for whatever can be used to build off of the lesson is such a great idea! I think as teachers we learn to be flexible with each class and having different material and sources there to use or mix up is super beneficial and practical. Thanks for your post!

  5. Hello Claudia,
I agreed with you about how LiveBinders is an awesome online tool for education. I did not know about this online tool before taking this course but it had become my favorite.
I am glad to know that you are planning to go digital using LiveBinders for your lesson plans and STAAR data. I like your ideas for organizing students’ classwork with this online tool.
