I absolutely love Pinterest! I frequently visit Pinterest
daily, I love all the wonderful ideas and creativity that people share on
there. It is an excellent way to collaborate with teachers all around the world
since everyone shares all their wonderful thoughts and ideas. I created a new
account for this course, but I have my own personal account that I have had for
the past 4 years. I use it mostly for educational purposes, but also use it to
collect recipes, organization ideas, scrapbooking ideas, etc.
Pinterest is an excellent resource when searching for new
ideas on a certain topic. I use Pinterest to browse different ideas or
activities on something upcoming that I am about to teach. For example, I
covered mixtures and solutions and I used Pinterest to get examples of what I can
put in the students interactive journals, I also saw a neat bulletin board
idea, and I saw plenty of experiment ideas that I can have the students do in
my science lab.
Teachers can use Pinterest to plan for countless subjects. For fourth grade reading I would use
Pinterest to look at different anchor charts to get ideas for when I create my
own chart in my class. I would also use it for differentiation and guided
reading activities/lessons. Often I would look on Pinterest and it would spark
an idea in my head and I would do or create something completely different than
what I saw, but it got me started in the right direction with different ideas.
I know my campus is stressing active learning and Pinterest is a good place to
find resources for different engaging reading lessons.
I have used Pinterest for math lessons and hands on activities.
I love all the postings people have put up showing how to create manipulatives
to use in the classroom. That was very useful for me because in my classroom we
did not have manipulatives for the students to use so we made our own. A lot of
these ideas were things I would never have thought of myself so I was ecstatic
that someone put that on Pinterest to share.
Students can also use Pinterest to get ideas for school
projects. I would recommend Pinterest to parents and students to browse for
science fair ideas. They can see different experiments they can try and they
can also look to get ideas for the designs of their board.
I have been reading the blogs of others classmates and yours and I noticed that most people have been used Pinterest since some years ago. It is the first time that I use, and I feel excited starting working with this new tool and take advantages of it to use in my courses and personal life.

ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you have been using Pintrest for such a long time and implementing various instructional strategies and activities that you’ve found. Although I had heard about Pinterest, I had not created an account or used it before. I loved it and immediately put it to use this week, just like you, discovering many great ideas to use especially for math and science.
Hola Claudia I also believe is very good for Science and Math, and for 5th grader students that needs to achieve their mathematical assignments. Meantime is very important the Pinterest board as a tool that teachers needs for better subject matter understanding and art & crafts are excellent to create seasonal environment and help in every day lesson plans. Wonderful Board

ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I am a Pinterest lover as well. I have my Pinterest full of personal as well as educational boards. It is amazing how you can find so many awesome ideas and things through pins. Not only that, but sharing ideas with people from all over the world is a nice thing to have because in a way you get to share the ideas that have worked for some and try them for yourself.

ReplyDeleteI also get a lot of my poster ideas from pinterest. I even have my students look up items on pinterest that might help them have a better understanding of a concept. One year they all made their own posters to present to the class and most of their ideas came from pinterest. There are many creative minds out there, I'm just glad that they all share on pinterest. I have to admit that despite me being a heavy technology user, would have never imagined that I would become a pinterest addict. I can definitely see the pattern of how easy it is to help make your life easier. I do however, think the teacher needs to be familiar with this technology. It can be a problem if the teacher does not fully understand pinterest, and this can result in lost time in the classroom.
